A few weeks ago we went into Gerrards Cross to a local store, WH Smith and looked at magazines to pick out and study from. We picked out a variety of magazines including women's health, men's health and cosmopolitan. We took some time to compare the women's health and men's health magazines to see if there were any differences or similarities in the way men and women were represented. We noticed that men were dressed in more tightly fitted and dark colors to show off their masculinity and their strong bodies, where as women were shown as delicate and seductive with lots of bare skin and colors like pinks and purples. We also noticed thick/ curvy women were rarely shown in any of the magazines.
