Task 2 | Award Winning Music Videos (Pop)
The number one award winning pop music video from 2017 is listed as Beyonce's 'Hold Up' from her 45 minute long 'Lemonade' album. Chorus is very up beat yet subtle; you can feel the positive beat it gives off but still makes you feel 'relaxed' in a way. You can hear a lot of musical instruments in the rhythm it self. The star is show cased in a luxurious designer's dress, with a lot of cleavage showing. She's dressed differently to everyone on the street and seems extremely 'care free' through out the video. The concept of the music video is all about feeling different and being yourself and feeling care free of the world, while distributing the true identity of love at the same time.I really liked the beginning part of the video where every thing is extremely slow and paced out and she's narrating in the background. I think that's something I could use for my own music video where I could have my singer say a few lines in the beginning of the music video telling a bit about her story, linked to the song.
David Bowie's song 'Lazarus' is another one of the award winning pop music videos from 2017 which was released two days before his death. It's a down tempro rock song with an extremely dramatic and deep beat which adds so much to the lyrics themself because of it's pace and intensity. The star is show cased to be ill as he lies in a ward room alone, talking about his life. It makes you think a lot as well as he sings, 'Look up here, I'm in heaven', and he passes away 2 days later. I really like the simplicity of the video and the amount of emotion that the character is portraying by just lip singing and not doing anything else. This is the kind of thing that I want to do for my music video with my main character just lip singing with a lot of emotion and passion.
